This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

Introduction

The Holmbush is a lively and friendly pub, situated in St Austell. It is a family pub with a delightful beer garden and conservatory. Other facilities include an excellent family room area which includes a pool table and wide screen TV's showing terrestrial sporting events. There is also a good sized car park on site.

The nearest railway station is St Austell, which is 1.7 miles away (a 5 minute drive). Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, see contact information for details below. 

The nearest bus stop is approximately 100m from the pub.  

The main road outside the pub where the main entrance is situated has a wide pavement that is even.

Car Parking and Arrival

There is free parking on site for customers only. The car park is situated at the rear and has many parking spaces and is less than 5m from the rear entrance. Two clearly marked blue badge parking spaces are available and are the nearest spaces to the rear entrance.

There is an electric car charging point in the car park.

The car park surface leading to the side entrance is tarmacked with no curbs. 

The car park is adequately lit at night.

There is a drop off point at the rear entrance of the pub.

There are no steps leading to the rear entrance and one step to the front entrance. 

The rear entrance door is manual and opens inwards, light to push and the front door is approximately 830mm, light to push and open outwards. There is a small step of approximately 100mm height to the front door. Staff can assist on request.

Bar & Bar Area and Dining Area/Restaurant

The bar and restaurant are situated on the ground floor. Entry to the lounge and conservatory area is by one small step approximately 750mm height, a portable ramp is available on request. Staff are happy to assist on request.

Both the bar and restaurant have level access throughout apart from this one step. 

There is no lowered section of the bar, drinks can also be served at the table on request.

There are low sofas, tables, chairs and bar stools in the bar area. Both the bar and the restaurant have a mixture of upright chairs with and without arms and tables are well spaced apart, with a clear height from the floor of approximately 660mm.

Lighting is natural daylight supplemented with overhead and wall lighting throughout.

There is a TV in the bar area, sound is only activated for major sport or other events. Subtitles are shown on request only.

There is background music in the restaurant area.

The flooring is a mixture of wood, ceramic tiles and short pile carpet in the bar area and short pile carpet in the restaurant.

We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements, please contact us in advance with any specific requests. Where possible all our food produce is locally sourced.

Please note that our dishes may contain nuts or nut traces. Allergen information is available upon request. Please let your server know about any intolerance to specific allergens and we will be able to say which of our dishes are safe for you to eat. Please note, the information may not always be supplied by your server but from a trained member of our team who will be able to assist.

In the bar & restaurant areas, food is ordered at the bar and brought to tables, however staff can assist on request.

Specials of the day are shown on a blackboard. All staff can assist by running through menus with you.

Crockery is colour contrasted with the table where possible.

There is a pool table in an area to the left side of the bar.

Booking a table is advisable at all times.

Customer Toilets

    Customer toilets can be found on the ground floor to the rear of the bar. Access is via on the flat from the rear entrances, bar and restaurant areas. There is level access from these areas to the unisex accessible toilet, described below: 

Entrance door 700mm wide and level entry into the toilet. 

750mm transfer space to the right of the toilet, when facing the toilet. 

Toilet height is 420mm. 

Horizontal rails on both sides of the toilet. 

A bell will sound when the fire alarm sounds. 

An emergency alarm pull cord is installed to alert staff. 

Well lit with compact fluorescent overhead lighting and there is a movement sensor when you enter the room with no light switch. 

Non-slip laminate flooring. 

Push taps on the sink. 

Good colour contrast between critical surfaces; tiles are blue, toilets & washbasins are white. 

Beer Garden/Outdoor Area/Smoking area

The beer garden/ outdoor area is open all year round. A sheltered area is available with lighting and patio style heaters installed under large umbrellas.

The beer garden/outdoor area is situated to the front of the pub; the smoking area is also in this area. Access to these areas is available from the front of the pub via one step - approximately 100mm height. Level access is available from the rear entrance and car park. 

The entrance/exit door leading to the outdoor area is wooden with glass panels. It is approximately 830mm wide.

The beer garden/outdoor and smoking areas are flat and have easy access to tables and chairs. The beer garden/outdoor and smoking area has a flat surface made of bricks.

There are separate tables and chairs which can be moved to give wheelchair access.

Drinks and food can be ordered and served at the table on request - please ask a member of staff who will be happy to assist.

Additional Information

We have a set of evacuation procedures – should you require assistance someone will help you with evacuation either out of the building. 

We welcome trained assistance dogs and all dogs that are well behaved throughout. A water bowl is always available just outside the front entrance for assistance and all other well behaved dogs. All dogs are welcomed within the Bar Area only.

Low energy lighting is used throughout.

Clear signage is used throughout the pub.
